Renewable energy (RE) technologies have broad applications in the world, especially in rural areas that have less technology and infrastructure. In fact, bringing the remote places can uplift technology whilst avoiding cost and environmental damage.
The energy revolution is underway. Renewable energy is growing at an astounding pace - notably in electricity. Wind turbines and solar photovoltaic (PV) systems account for most new power plants built worldwide and are essential to building a low-carbon and sustainable energy future. As a result, there are countless new opportunities in renewable electricity.
This course covers how and why renewables are driving change in electricity systems worldwide, how electricity systems are changing to accommodate all these new renewables, and what that all means for those seeking to understand and participate in the global transformation of electricity systems. This global transformation is just beginning; with the knowledge gained from this course, you will be ready to jump on board.
This course is an ideal step for people that want to understand the world of renewable energy and its options. The course is tailored for those who are looking to make a change in their career, and/or those who just want to learn more about energy from the sun, wind, and water, energy efficiency, and the basics of solar electricity. At the end of this CPD course you will learn about the different technologies and trends, when is the right moment to choose one type of renewable energy system versus another, and how to make a difference with your own energy consumption.

Case Studies
Dr Abubakar Sani Hassan, PhD, MIET, and MIEEE
Dr Abubakar Sani Hassan is an Electrical Engineer with research and industry-based experience in Electrical Energy Systems and optimization of distributed energy systems. He earned a BEng in Electrical Engineering from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria. He went on to obtain a master's degree (Distinction) in Energy Systems Engineering from the University of Glamorgan (now University of South Wales, United Kingdom). During his MSc, he worked on his thesis in conjunction with the University of Glamorgan's Baglan hydrogen centre. The key theme of his MSc thesis is the modelling and simulation of a standalone solar-powered hydrogen production system.
He has a PhD, and as part of his PhD research at the Institute of Energy, Cardiff School of Engineering Abubakar has worked as a research affiliate at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, California, USA, for two months interfacing energy planning tools with low voltage network models. Dr Abubakar's projects have always involved several problem formulations and using optimization techniques to optimally find the best schedules for distributed energy resources based on the constraints (physical limitations) defining such systems.
I always wanted to learn more about renewable energies and be able to as well explain them to others. I found out that with this course, I am able to become certified in renewable energy which provides me with more job opportunities for myself
The course SolarTech provided has helped my renewable energies knowledge by fifteen times and I think that makes me a more valuable employee
